Tim and Stephanie Broersma and a Marriage Reclaimed After Marital Betrayal

Tim and Stephanie share the process they went through after Tim confessed to multiple affairs and to a 10-year pornography addiction which took them both on a journey to restoration as they determined to do the hard work and fight for their marriage because the prospect of the alternative was harder to bear than going through the uncomfortable middle.

On the other side, they have found beauty truly does rise from the ashes when we find our life and/or marriage has caught fire. Walk with them through the rubble as they share their testimony and the ministry God birthed in Stephanie as she coped with the pain, the devastation of grappling with marital betrayal.

Linda Obremski and Mariah Metoyer-Marino on Grieving with Hope

Two remarkable women with two remarkable stories — join me for July’s episode as Linda Obremski and Mariah Metoyer-Marino share the journey they’ve been on since “losing” their husbands. They share how “losing their husbands” isn’t really what it is at all because they know where their husbands are… they aren’t lost but are home, in Heaven with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, more alive than ever before. They share the hope and comfort they find in knowing they will see them again and the beauty of discovering their purpose in this new season they find themselves in.

They share how it does not feel right living from the identity of “widow”. Their identity is firm in Christ, as Daughters of the King, Daughters of the Most High God. They are living to bring Him glory through every trial and every suffering this life on earth may bring. Mariah shares that if suffering in this life brings Him more glory, then so be it!
All this and more in episode 19!

Marriage and Redefining Our Identity with Zack and Daniella Peck

Episode 15 was recorded in Brooklyn, New York. I sat down with Zack and Daniella Peck who drove all the way from New Jersey to record for the podcast.

Zack works with the youth at their church. Zack says he was working for the church for about a year before he was actually saved. It’s not about how well we do the “church” things, we can pretend all day long to be one person but God is not fooled. God wants our heart and through their testimony, we see just how patient, how loving and how kind our Father is with us. He patiently pursues our hearts and helps us work through our emotions and helps us process through them to get to the root of our heart hang-ups.

Daniella shares she grew up Catholic. She knew of God, believed in Him but it was always more about the rituals and had never opened up God’s Word for herself. Becoming a Christian was an easier transition as being raised Catholic meant believing in the same God but it became a more intimate, personal relationship with Him, knowing Jesus as God.

This episode would be great to share with a middle school or high school-aged person in your life as Daniella and Zack go into a lot of what the Lord spoke to them in their early relationship and how He called them to process through a lot of the hurt that stemmed from an immature, young “romance” and how He redefined and redeemed a lot of the idols, including each other, they had made.

Chelsey and Corey DeMatteis on Putting Our Pasts to Death & Making Room for New Life in Marriage

Chelsey and Corey are honest that there are differences in their marriage, in some ways they are the total opposites yet at the same time complementary. God handpicked the two of them to be together. They open about the tougher seasons they’ve walked through even more recently together, and that they’re still working through.
Chelsey also shares bringing up the past has to die. There is just no room for it anymore. A tree can’t bear new fruit if you don’t cut away the dead. She shared her greatest desire for their marriage in this season is having fun together, pure God gifted joy.  All this and more in this month’s testimony behind the matrimony.

Catching Up with Elliott and Andrea Johnson On Honoring God Through Your Finances and Finding Financial Peace

In the first year of their marriage Elliott shares it was when Andrea, his wife, came to him saying they needed groceries and they had nothing in the checking account or savings that he realized something had to change.
“It really broke me and I realized I really had no idea how to honor God with my finances. Because I didn’t know where to turn I began a process of prayer.” Something they weren’t doing and something 78% of the couples they coach and work with aren’t doing is a consistent budget.

AS ELLIOTT WAS DRIVING ONE DAY, HE HEARD A MAN ON THE RADIO SAY, “THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW FINANCIAL PEACE IS TO WALK DAILY WITH THE PRINCE OF PEACE, CHRIST JESUS.” This was an answer to prayer.  God began to show them through the Scripture His ways of managing the money He has given. We talk budgets, tithing, cutting up credit cards and how to work through eliminating debt, and conquering comparison in marriage!

Regan and Mellie Martin on The Call to Cape Town, Togetherness, and the Gospel of God’s Grace

Regan and Mellie Martin have been married for 17 years. I was given the privilege to meet and record with this couple whose warm welcome and hospitality and how they live and worship in every day life with their six children was so refreshing to my soul. I hope it’s just as refreshing to yours and inspires something for your home life or sparks the call God’s been prompting in your own heart.

One of my favorite parts of this episode may be that you can hear 4 of their 6 children practicing their violin in the background toward the end. And another favorite moment, at the very end the Martin’s sing for us a gospel hymn, His Mercy is More.

This American family who moved from Wisconsin/Illinois to follow God’s call to South Africa. Regan said he prayed, “Here we are, send us. Where would you have us to be?” All this and more in episode 11!
