Chelsey and Corey are honest that there are differences in their marriage, in some ways they are the total opposites yet at the same time complementary. God handpicked the two of them to be together. They open about the tougher seasons they’ve walked through even more recently together, and that they’re still working through.
Chelsey also shares bringing up the past has to die. There is just no room for it anymore. A tree can’t bear new fruit if you don’t cut away the dead. She shared her greatest desire for their marriage in this season is having fun together, pure God gifted joy. All this and more in this month’s testimony behind the matrimony.
In the first year of their marriage Elliott shares it was when Andrea, his wife, came to him saying they needed groceries and they had nothing in the checking account or savings that he realized something had to change.
“It really broke me and I realized I really had no idea how to honor God with my finances. Because I didn’t know where to turn I began a process of prayer.” Something they weren’t doing and something 78% of the couples they coach and work with aren’t doing is a consistent budget.
AS ELLIOTT WAS DRIVING ONE DAY, HE HEARD A MAN ON THE RADIO SAY, “THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW FINANCIAL PEACE IS TO WALK DAILY WITH THE PRINCE OF PEACE, CHRIST JESUS.” This was an answer to prayer. God began to show them through the Scripture His ways of managing the money He has given. We talk budgets, tithing, cutting up credit cards and how to work through eliminating debt, and conquering comparison in marriage!
Read MoreRegan and Mellie Martin have been married for 17 years. I was given the privilege to meet and record with this couple whose warm welcome and hospitality and how they live and worship in every day life with their six children was so refreshing to my soul. I hope it’s just as refreshing to yours and inspires something for your home life or sparks the call God’s been prompting in your own heart.
One of my favorite parts of this episode may be that you can hear 4 of their 6 children practicing their violin in the background toward the end. And another favorite moment, at the very end the Martin’s sing for us a gospel hymn, His Mercy is More.
This American family who moved from Wisconsin/Illinois to follow God’s call to South Africa. Regan said he prayed, “Here we are, send us. Where would you have us to be?” All this and more in episode 11!
Read MoreIn episode 10, we hear from Vanessa and Rehgert VanZyl, recorded live from the sleepy, surf town in the Eastern Cape, South Africa (Jeffrey's Bay).
Rehgert is a South African native (born and raised) and knew he had a unique upbringing in that he had a stable home life, parents still married and found Jesus early on. He wanted to share the hope found in Christ with the youth in his neighborhood and end the stigma of what you look like and break the generational sins which plague so many families in his community. From this, Aleph Surf International was created to meet the youth right where they're at.
Vanessa has a background in the apparel manufacturing world which led her to live in Eastern Africa (Uganda) for a few years prior to meeting Rehgert. The way God crossed their paths is truly divine and something only He could do! Truly supernatural touches that were so evidently from the Sovereign hand of the Father, who cares so much about the details of our lives!
Rehgert and Vanessa’s faith and ministry encouraged me to keep serving, to keep loving even when breakthrough isn’t being seen. Will we trust the Father’s at work when we don’t see tangible fruit? Will we serve Him even still? Will we be ready for Him when He comes back for His bride? All that and so much more in this tenth episode!
