Restoring Intimacy After Sexual Addiction and Trauma with Clinton and Charity Munoz
This month I’m joined by Clinton and Charity Munoz who are kicking off the 2021 year with episode #24! Clinton and Charity have been married 7 years, have 3 boys (ages 4 and under), and have created a ministry called Restored 2 More in August 2020. Their ministry birthed from their own story of dealing with healing and restoration after walking through what they call “D DAY — discovery day” two years into their marriage. Charity discovered shocking things on Clinton’s phone, things that undeniably revealed he had a pornography addiction issue. Charity shares how she went through a mourning process as she realized this wasn’t the man she said her marriage vows to. Clinton goes into his background, being exposed to pornography at age 11 and how that sent him spiraling out for years to come. He opens up about this addiction being a way to cope with the brokenness he’d experienced and shares the recovery process and how it wasn’t pretty or neat or easy.
“We believe in a restoring God. He doesn’t heal you just enough to function. He restores to a condition better than it was before. That “more” is the planting of something on top of that gravesite that’s a thousand times more beautiful than what’s underneath it.”
They share how the discovery is the best thing that could have ever happened to their relationship because of what it’s forced them to face and how God has restored intimacy and brought new life to their marriage. Restored 2 More was created to assist couples in rebuilding intimacy with the goal and their heart being, lending hope through the sharing of their marital betrayal story and the knowledge they’ve learned on their restoration journey with each other and the Lord! They have a podcast with weekly episodes, a YouTube channel, and a workbook they created to use as tools to help aid in educating and addressing the topics of sexual and pornography addiction, trauma, and underlying issues.
